Hi,

we have recently upgraded a server with 2003 standard edition.
Problem is with VPN. Users can connect, but cannot browse the network. This
is a randomn problem.
Sometimes they can see the other machines on the network and sometimes they
cannot. The connection remains persistent however, browsing of the network is
temperamental.
Also when you ping the server it sometimes comes back with 192.168.178.200
(which is the actual address of the server) and sometimes it comes back with
192.168.178.101 (which is the Internal address on RRAS).
On the VPN client, I have set the users to log on to domain and have set the
TCP/IP settings of the preferred DNS and alternate DNS server.

Any ideas as to what I can check.

Many tks
Nish.

You need to disable Netbios over TCP/IP on the internal interface so
that there are not two IPs associated with the server's Netbios name. See KB
292822 (especially the section near the end discussing WINS and Netbios over
TCP/IP).

Hi Bill,

looks like this might just have done it.
Not had any complaints since I applied the below.

Tks.
