For PPTP use port 1723 and GRE protocol 47
For L2TP Ports 1701 and Port 500
By the way, I have not been succesful in getting VPN with
IPSEC to work on a MN-500. MN500 does not appear to
process IPSEC properly. Any idea how to open ports on an
MN-500. I.e to enable Port forwarding.I am pretty sure
that all I need to do is enable port 500 forwarded to the
local PC. I browsed the docs last evening, and keeping in
mind that I have been working on Networking equipment for
10 years, I could find nothing clear in the documentation.
VPN to a Microsoft RAS server works ok. But when I tried
to connect using a Sonicwall client , similar to the Cisco
clients, no go. These clients require IPSEC pass through.
At the risk of enraging the Microsoft BroadBand community,
I found that the Linksys BEFSW11 Ver 2 works like a charm.
