VPN client not working (error 800)

I have just tried, for practice, to setup a VPN connection between two
systems on my internal network. The traffic was captured and the server
responds, but I guess it doesn't respond correctly because the client then
doesn't return the response.
The VPN server is listening on port 1723, and this port is open on the
server firewall.

What am I missing?

Thank you,

J.B.

Error 800 is a pretty useless message. It just means that the server
didn't respond.

On the client, change the connection type from Automatic to PPTP and see
if you get a more informative error.

The new error is:
"Error 651: Your modem (or other device) reported an error."
Does that help?

Not really, but it does suggest that the server is not configured
correctly.
