VPN - Can't access remote server after reboot

I've setup a VPN connection to our home office's server. When I
initially setup the connection, I can connect to it, then Start -> Run
-> \\servername and I get an explorer window of the server. After
rebooting, I connect to the VPN, try Start -> Run -> \\servername
and get an error:

"\\servername is not accessible. You might not have permission to use
this network resource."

Windows Firewall is disabled on the VPN connection and my Norton AV
does not have a firewall. I've replicated this problem on two
machines. It works fine until I reboot, then it does not. The server
is Windows Server 2000. The client machine is XP Pro SP2.

Thanks,

David

The two computers that are having this problem are logged into my
domain. I have a laptop that is not logged into my domain and it does
not have this problem. I have a feeling that once the VPN is
connected, it's somehow trying to use my domain's login credentials
when I try to access the outside server.

Any suggestions?

Dave

Try this: net view \\serverip. If you receive system error 5, it may be permission issue; if it is 53, it could be name resolution or firewall issue.

Bob,

I get error 53. The windows firewall is disabled on this VPN
connection. Remember, this worked until I rebooted the machine. Does
it have something to do with the computer being logged into my company
domain?

Thanks,

Dave
