I have a client who uses two Netgear FVS 318 routers to VPN between two
offices over a Broadband connection. They now want to install 2003 server
with ICS in one building. My question is: Can I enable ICS on the server and
still continue to use the two routers for the vpn connection?

it depens. site to site vpn should work. however, since he add ics, he wiil add another nic and subnet.

why do he need to use ICS? I would use NAT instead. ths page talks about different nat and ics. http://www.chicagotech.net/nat.htm

Well, since it sounds like the office they want to install this in, already
has a Netgear to handle NAT, why would you want to use the far clunkier ICS
rather than just pointing everyone at the NetGear LAN IP for the default
gateway?

Since the Netgear router is providing DHCP services all I should have to do
is input the routers default gateway into each client?

Set up the DHCP server on the NetGear to dish all the appropriate info out
to the clients - IP, subnet mask, default gateway, DNS servers (I manually
specify these in the DHCP options rather than letting the NetGear cache
anything). Much easier.

Thanks again for the reply Lanwench. I agree letting the router dish out the
info to the clients.
