That MAC would be associated with the chipset of the built in Nic,...not the
phone itself. Those nics most likely come from some other manufacturer,...and
that could change from time to time. So the phones may not always show the same
"vendor" in the MAC. Worse yet, if the Nic manufacturer happens to be one that
also built the Nics in your PCs & Servers,...then the phones won't be
distinguishable (via the Vendor portion of the MAC) from the other machines on
the network.
Just speculation,...but something to consider.
