Would a service such as this be any good for a very small business with two
phone lines?

http://www.vonage.co.uk

Or would I just be making problems for myself?

Is it reliable enough is basically what I would like to know?

perfectly reliable my friend, i have vonage on 3 lines with a fax and phone
on each, i have to say since the start no probs whatsoever, the online
control panel is superb so you can see everything up todate, billing etc,etc

its so reliable, much more so than any other provider i have evr
known--WARNING DO NOT TOUCH SIPGATE OR ANY OF THE OTHERS.

Depends how many people you have to talk on them, if you're adding VoIP.
How about checking uk.telecom.voip as you'll probably find comments on
reliability and price deals there (sorry, don't check it myself).

FWIW, I have a geographic number from Sipgate which handles incoming for
me (and sends a recording as e-mail if I don't answer). Peter M.

Well you should google first + look at the rates.
You can get locked in with their kit even though you paid
for it and own it.

You can go to places like www.voipfone.co.uk, or www.voipbuster.com
and get hardware like PAP2 working with voipfone or soft phones with
voipbuster.

The cheapest at the moment rumoured to be www.1866.com
with free calls to UK landlines and other goodies.

But the VoIP landscape is changing by the minute
with a vast shortage of inexpensive feature laden gadgets
to fill the vacuum being created for VoIP.
