Hi,

Anyone set up a Linksys PAP2T ATA for 2 independent lines with the same
VOIP supplier? If so I would like to know the set-up information you
used. My VOIP supplier can't help - despite recommending the kit!

You might get a quicker answer in this group: uk.telecom.voip. Its quite
an active group, and I've picked up a few tips from it.

I have two Sipgate accounts running on mine. It is all fairly basic to
configure just point your browser at the PAP's IP address.

You can discover this by plugging in a phone and dialing * * * * 110 #

Thanks, I understand that. The problem seems to me to be a set-up
issue. I have 2 lines configured on the ATA, I can get 2 dial tones at
the same time, and make calls OK from either line, so outgoing it seems
OK.

Problem is incoming. I have 2 "0208" numbers. If I call line 1 (via
the PSTN) it works OK. If I call (via the PSTN) line 2, line 1 rings.
This is no good for me - line 2 will be a FAX machine, hence the
different "0208" number. I think its the set-up for line 2 or other
configuration issues that are the problem. My VOIP supplier states its
all working fine at their end - but can't sort the problem out at my
end.

If you can throw any light on this, it would be helpful.

Regards

May I ask why?
Description of unit states:
Each phone port operates independently, with separate phone service and
phone numbers, like having two telephone lines.

Perhaps because there is......NO SUCH THING....as an "0208"
number...that's why you'd get flak, for mentioning such a thing!

There are merely "020" numbers. Some are followed by 8, some aren't...

I never gave it much thought. I put line one details to line one account.
I put line two details to line two account. Then, it just worked.

I can't shed any more light on it than that - sorry. Can't say I tried a
fax on it. Last time I did any reading on it that was a bit hit or miss.

Have you tried to recieve a fax via VOIP yet?
It *can* work, but sometimes it can be unreliable.
You might need to play arround with some of the PAP2
settings, echo cancellation etc.
