VOIP DHCP

We are implementing Nortel VOIP Phones, and my Telco dept. wants me to setup
a DHCP Scope for these phones. Does Server 2003 DHCP support VOIP ? I cant
find any of the options that the Nortel Doc's refer to

No, and it doesn't need to,..just like DHCP doesn't need to "support" ftp,
http, https, telnet, or anthing else.

DHCP gives out the TCP/IP config,...VoIP has nothing to do with that.

Another **big** issue here is,...Scopes are not for "devices",...they are
for IP Segments. What "devices" you run on that segment has nothing to do
with DHCP or the Scopes. So if there is already a Scope for the IP
Segment,...the phones will use it.

Thanks you for your response. I agree with your points, however, these
devices and some other devices require additional vendor specific settings to
function properly. As far as the phones are concerned, these settings could
be hard coded on the phones, or served thru DHCP. There is an optional
Nortel Phone Switching device that has an integrated DHCP Server that of
course does support those specific options. I did not want to go that route
if I could provide those settings from my exisiting DHCP Server. Since I am
familiar with the DHCP Option 43, Vendor Specific Options, I was just
wondering if there were any others that would serve my needs, in this case I
dont think there are.

There is no way I could answer that. I don't know anything specific about
those phones.
You can add options to MS's DHCP, that's about all I can tell you.
