Hello,
I'm using my MN-700 Access point as a Broadband Router. I
am considering moving to VoIP from Vonage, and because of
my Internet Connection, I'm required to put it behind my
router, as I only have one IP.
My concern is this. One of the port forwards is port 10000
through 20000 (10000 ports) of UDP that need to be
forwarded to the Phone Adapter. The Broadband Networking
Admin page says that a port forward can only be set up
using 100 ports max at a time. That's 100 forwards (100
ports * 100 forwards = 10000 ports forwarded) that need to
be set up just for that one block.
While this is terribly annoying, I suppose I could live
with it. I started setting up the forwards one at a time,
and got about 10 sets into it, and now my Access Point is
showing:
HTTP/1.0 500 Internal Server Error Date: Wed, 01 Dec 2004
06:06:10 GMT Connection: close Server: Microsoft-WinCE/4.20
Content-Type: text/html Content-Length: 31 The server
encountered an error
Now I can't even get into the Admin page. I'm going to
reboot the access point in a couple minutes, but was
wondering if
1) anyone knew why the 100 port limitation was in place,
2) is there a way around it,
3) is there a max number of total forwarded ports before
the access point locks up
Vonage is the premier VoIP company from what I can tell, so
I would assume that someone else has run into this issue,
but my search of the newsgroup found nothing.
I REALLY want to setup VoIP. I know that other routers
(specifically Linksys) allow the forwarding of 10000 ports
at a time, since that's what Vonage sells, but I'd rather
not spend more money on a Linksys router if I don't have to.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thank you
