Vodafone PAYG USB Dongle

In October I bought my wife a Vodafone USB mobile broadband dongle for use
with her laptop when we are away from home. The reason I chose Vodafone was
that the £15 top-up doesn't expire until it is all used up. She didn't
actually use it until this week.

I was thinking of buying another one for myself but looking at the Vodafone
website, it seems as though a 30 day "use by" limit has now been imposed in
common with most other providers.

However Dixons are still advertising them and stating that there is still no
expiry date for any unused allowance. Are their adverts out of date?

Will dongles bought under the old terms still have the benefit of not
expiring? If they don't, when did Vodafone impose this sneaky change?

I hope there is someone out there who has some answers.

See the threads on the VF forums, lots of posts about this.

(forum.vodafone.co.uk)

Basically the new 3GB expiring offering is based on a new hardware
revision of the K3656 (?) of modem. So AIUI, the hardware you have
defines the pre-pay package you are on.

The old modems (still available in some places) are said by the VF
forum admins to work to the old T&Cs. So if you can get one, the
credit shouldn't expire after 30 days (but you still have to use it at
least once every 180 days to keep the service 'alive') .

The new modem is marked as a type "R" (I think). The tariff for that
one can't be changed to the old non-expiring tariff.

HTH,

Mark

Forgot to say in my other post that the new T&Cs were announced on Dec
26th or thereabouts...

Mark,

Thanks very much for that. Very helpful.

I now see that Amazon are also advertising dongles with the old conditions.

Regards,
