See the threads on the VF forums, lots of posts about this.
(forum.vodafone.co.uk)
Basically the new 3GB expiring offering is based on a new hardware
revision of the K3656 (?) of modem. So AIUI, the hardware you have
defines the pre-pay package you are on.
The old modems (still available in some places) are said by the VF
forum admins to work to the old T&Cs. So if you can get one, the
credit shouldn't expire after 30 days (but you still have to use it at
least once every 180 days to keep the service 'alive') .
The new modem is marked as a type "R" (I think). The tariff for that
one can't be changed to the old non-expiring tariff.
