vncserver configuration problems

Hi all,

I am just configuring a new box with Mandrake 9.2. Real smooth and easy, if
only vncserver would work. Here's what I did:

(1) I made a passwd file using vncpasswd, using the default, so it sits in
$HOME/.vnc

(2) I added an entry in /etc/sysconfig/vncservers

(3) I soft-linked /etc/rc5.d/S91vncserver to ../init.d/vncserver

When the machine boots everything is [OK] and I can see the Xvnc process
running with my uid. However, when I try to connect from another machine,
the connect fails. If I launch a server using x0rfbserver interactively from
the desktop everything works fine.

What am I missing here?

Do I need to set everything up to launch as root? Open up a port?

Any help greatly appreciated,
Patrick
