RDP is much more efficient but the desktop is not "shared",...the user is
locked out while you use the desktop if you used the user's credentials. If
you use other credentials then the user is completely logged out when you
log in.
Using "Remote Assistance" which is also based on RDP, allows a shared
desktop, but it must be initiated by the user. Personaly I have never used
it.
VNC is sluggish and the screen quality looks horrible (to me),...but it is a
good choice for Win2000 and older machines. It is also fine for XP if Remote
Desktop or Remote Assitance doesn't fit the particular situation well.
For me this is not an "either/or". I use both,...sometimes with one being a
"backup" for the other if one method fails.
