Hi,
I was trying to connect a vnc client to windows box running ULtraVNC.
These were the errors (below).
Im running Fedora fc4. Is there a way to get a vnc viewer to connect to
these windows boxes running UltraVNC?

Wine seems to work well with UltraVNC only I was wondering if there was
an alternative client perhaps that I could try?

[tdelov@melittdelov ~]$ vncviewer citrix2

VNC Viewer Free Edition 4.1.1 for X - built Apr 27 2005 02:25:46
Copyright (C) 2002-2005 RealVNC Ltd.
See http://www.realvnc.com for information on VNC.

CConn: connected to host citrix2 port 5900
CConnection: Server supports RFB protocol version 3.4
CConnection: Using RFB protocol version 3.3

I would strongly suggest http://sourceforge.net/projects/vnc-tight/ rather
than what you're using. Tha javaviewer client works wonderfully well here in
Firefox on several OS platforms, so I'm guessing that the VNC server is the
problem for you.

The vnc server is running UltraVNC on the remote computer.
There seems to be a difference with this RFB protocol?
Firefox seems to work, however I would still prefer to run a client not
reliant on the web browser.
Is there a linux vnc-client that can connect to UltraVNC?

><sigh> Yes, you stated that already, and seem unwilling to switch to a proven implementation..

If it were a simple issue of using another server on the remote
computer, it would have already been done. But unfortunately I have to
work with an existing system.

Ok good point. This is another error message from a realvnc client.

VNC viewer version 3.3.7 - built Feb 20 2006 12:04:05
Copyright (C) 2002-2003 RealVNC Ltd.
Copyright (C) 1994-2000 AT&T Laboratories Cambridge.
See http://www.realvnc.com for information on VNC.
VNC server supports protocol version 3.4 (viewer 3.3)
Password:
Unknown VNC authentication result: 2017258266

I can access these machines when I run the UltraVNC web client or
running UltraVNC through wine.
So I'm not too sure what I should be looking for?

Google is your friend, as always:

" ... hadent had any luck with any of them ..." is a totally inadequate
description of the problem(s) encountered, and makes it difficult for anyone
to attempt to help you, so I wish you the best of luck with your
difficulties.
