VLAN

Hello ,

Here's my setup.

i have 3 web servers with 2 LAN cards each. and 1 DB server with 3 lan
cards.


WS1:
NLB nic
VIP: 192.168.1.10
IP :192.168.1.1
subnet: 255.255.255.0


ADMIN nic:
IP:10.0.1
subnet: 255.0.0.0


WS2:
NLB nic
VIP: 192.168.1.10
IP :192.168.1.2
subnet: 255.255.255.0

ADMIN nic
IP:10.0.2
subnet: 255.0.0.0


WS3:
NLB nic
VIP: 192.168.1.10
IP :192.168.1.3
subnet: 255.255.255.0


ADMIN nic
IP:10.0.3
subnet: 255.0.0.0


DB server
1ST nic
IP:19.168.1.4
subnet: 255.255.255.0

2ND and 3RD nic -not yet in use.

Here's what I'm thinking.

1. Create a VLAN, ADMIN NICs and 2nd nic of DB server will be here. The web
servers transact to the DB server that's why i come up with this plan.
2. Create a VLAN for the NLB nics.

Will my network performance improve with this kind of setup?What do you
think of this solution?

NLB is for balancing *Servers*,...not Nics.

No. VLANs share the same Wire,....so no performance is gained

Run one nic in each machine and run a normal LAN configuration. The DB
traffic from the web servers is not going to amount to "squat" when compared
to the speed the LAN is capable of.

Don't try to solve imaginary problems that you don't really have. If
anything, just run gigabit speed between the servers.
