Vista update made errror 80070002 trying to update Intel Wireless WiFi Link
4965AGN. The Microsoft Update is dated January 26. Have tried to remove the
temporary update files, uninstalling the drivers, using recovery manager
ect., and still I can't install the old drivers and I can't install the
updated driver. I'm using Vista Premium and a HP Pavillion dv6xxx and the
driver is version 11.5.0.32. An update to the Intel Wireless WiFi Link
4965AGN driver on HPs driver page called 7.10 dated February 2008 has not
solved the problem.
Any suggestions?

Vista update recently made errror 80070002 trying to update Intel Wireless
WiFi Link 4965AGN. The Microsoft Update is dated January 26. Have tried to
remove the temporary update files emptying
C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore and download, deactivated Windows
Update, uninstalled the drivers using
http://www.intel.com/support/wireles.../cs-025395.htm , used recovery
manager, ect. Still I can't install the old drivers and I can't install an
updated driver. I'm using Vista Premium and a HP Pavillion dv6xxx and the
driver apparently not working is version 11.5.0.32. An update to the Intel
Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN driver on HPs driver page called 7.10 C driver
version 11.5.1.8 dated February 2008
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...s=2093&lang=en
has not solved the problem since it can't be installed.

Any suggestions?

In the end I chose to do a complete system recovery.
I couldn't figure out what caused this errror 80070002 trying to update
Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN from version 11.5.0.32 with using
Microsoft's Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN automatic Windows Update dated
January 26, 2008. After system recovery I have chosen not to use the Windows
Update.
Instead I have updated the 11.5.0.32 version to version 11.5.1.8 using the
HP's Update website
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...s=2093&lang=en
With this newest update version 11.5.1.8 every thing is working excellent. I
have not experienced any problems whatsoever.
The HP-update is called 7.10 C and dated Februar 2008 on the website.
Curiosly the driver must be from January 8, 2008 but is dated wrong in the
inf. file. In the inf. file the driver is from January 8, 2007, which
obviously must a mistake.

I have the same problem with my VAIO running Vista, using Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN. After window update "downgraded" my driver, I start to have problems. Here my additional tips that helped me:

1. disable the hardware before uninstalling. I finally found this thread and I follow Intel instructions to uninstall and delete the driver. My system immediately noticed the un-configured hardware and went to the web to fetch me the bad driver again. So, disable before uninstalling.

2. if installation of original Intel driver, does not work, try reboot before installing.

3. The root problem is your laptop tries to go to sleep and the wireless card wants to keep in touch with the wireless router. So this problem also depends on the router. I have no problem at work, only problems at home.

Hi
If you have only problem at home it might be your Router.
Did you check carefully the Home Router setting,
Check the support site of the Router to make sure thta it is Vista
compatible.
