Vista Asks for XP Password

I have 2 Vista machines and 1 XP (Pro) in a linksys network. While using
the 2 Vista machines, I can see the XP but when I try to map the XP drive it
keeps asking for a password. I never set one on the XP machine. Any idea
how to make this work? Do I need to setup an account on the XP machine?

Thanks!

You should assign a password to XP and create the same username on the
Vista. These search results may help.
windows faqs
Prompt for the guest password Run a program as a service XP can see
win98 but win98 can't see XP Workstation doesn't start ...

Thanks

assigning a password to xp won't work for me, for I need the xp machine to
be start back up and execute my weather program in the event of a power loss
or surge while I'm away. Somehow I need to be able to map the xp machine
from the vista machine.

Hi
Once permission is set correctly there is No need for password if it is
uncheck in the permission menus.
Successful Sharing involves some general consideration in Network settings,
http://www.ezlan.net/sharing.html
As well as specific adjustment of each computer according to what it is
allowed to be shared.
