Virtual Machine network access

Hi everyone!
I am running VMWare Server on a Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2 so
maybe this is the wrong forum for this question but I will be posting it here
anyway.

On the VMWare Server I have a Virtual Machine (VM) on which I am running
Ubuntu Server. The Ubuntu server is configured to act as a web server as well
as a file server.

When having a setup where both the VM and the SBS acquired their
IP-addresses from an external DHCP router that also connected the rest of the
office to the Internet, I did not have any problem connecting to the VM from
neither SBS nor any of the clients on the LAN (or VPN clients either for that
matter).

Now, the SBS has been moved to a server hotel where the only access to it is
through VPN access. Upon installation of VMWare Server, it enabled two
virtual network adapters that I was able to use when configuring the
"Connected directly to the Internet"-option in the CEICW.

Now, when having bound the internal network of the SBS to the VMNet8 rather
than "Local Area Connection" of the server, I come to the real issue - to
reach the files on the virtual machine.

How do I configure RRAS to make remotely connected users to being situated
on the same virtual LAN as the virtual server and hence able to connect to
the file shares on it? Do I have to set up static routes and if so, how do I
do such a thing?

Any help is much appreciated!

Hello Richard,

For SBS i recommend to use this NG, SBS is always different:
microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs

As you said yourself, for VMWare this is the wrong NG.
