I have had enough of Virgin and the poor speeds and crap service. My 12 month
contract is up in the next few days, and I shall be contacting them by
phone to give them my months notice.Do I have to also put the request to
leave in writing to them at their office address or is a verbal request by
phone and requesting a MAC enough . TIA.

Giving the required notice is quite separate from asking for a MAC code. You
probably have to give it in writing. In any case with an outfit like Virgin
you would be wise to put all communications in writing.

just phone up and request a mac, they will probably offer you discount to
stay and sign for another 12 months, but as you know what you'll be signing
for maybe you'll decline. mac request should take no more than 3 days (some
isps try to drag it out) and can often be got in just a few hours.
any idea where your going? what type of service do you need?

all the above assuming that your not on a LLU line

I'm on ADSL.There is no way I would stay whatever discounts or incentives
they offered me.I would rather pay a little extra for better service, that
put up with nothing better that dial up speeds which I seem to be getting
now.
