Cancelled my broadband in late October, got a letter telling me my
notice period is 30 days so they would cut me off towards the end of
November. Been using my new ADSL service since the middle of that period
with email forward to a new address. Yesterday discovered that because
Virgin Media cancelled my email address as immediately as they cut off
the broadband, I did not receive notification that they intended to bill
me for another month and the first thing I know about it is when the
money is taken from my account! Muppets

That's why they like you to have a direct debit set up with them. They NEVER
undercharge. I reckon they treat the direct debit mandate as a kind of flexible
loan arrangement.
