What percentage of their customer base are using incompatible modems for
the connection they are on?
What percentage are claiming back monies paid, for the time they have
been payin full price for a service that the modem issued to them has
been incompatible for?
What checks do Virgin Media do when upgrading a customer to a higher
package where a compatible modem may be needed?

I can answer the last one myself...
None at all.

But you can bet your life they check that they receive each monthly
payment they receive from you on the day they are suppose to receive
it .

And then phone you up if it's not been paid on the day it's meant to be
paid.

I got one up on them there they don't have any phone numbers of mine
and never will have and that applies to any company I deal with not
just Virgin but with the exception of BT of course .

That's pretty common nowadays for a lot of ISPs.

Oh do stop your pathetic whining you moaning moron.

The modems that VM (or NTL or Telewest as was) provide to any given customer
we more than capable of the speeds that they had at the time the service was
activated.

With speed upgrades, some modems may not be able to reach those speeds. So
what happens? VM simply send you a new one. That's it. End of story.

No big drama. No conspiracy theories. No hyperbole. Nothing.

You get a new modem. Job done.

This is yet another NON-issue that you are trying to hit VM over the head
with.

Agree with your comments but Virgin let themselves down. I am on the 4mb
with a SB3100 modem which will not work at the 10mb speed, if or when
Telford gets upgraded (no doubt last again), so I suggested to Virgin that
perhaps they might change it before the rush. Apparently it can't be done. I
have to wait till after the upgrade, find I can't get the new speed,
complain and then they will send me a new one. I love their forward
planning!!!!
