Further to my posts of yesterday, is anyone out there connecting to Virgin
ADSL using a BT Voyager 2000 Wireless Modem / Router.
Trying to get a mate up and running on Virgin, but he is on a tight budget,
so got a s/h voyager off eBay for him. Tried it on his Virgin ADSL line - no
connection.
After a bit of digging on the internet, found that Virgin authentication can
be a bit iffy, so tested the modem on another mates tried and test ADSL line
with Pipex. Voyager connected instantly, so the modem is OK.
So called Virgin on their premium support line and was told that the BT
Voyager 2000 is known to have problems on their network !!!!
Now is this just Virgin trying to pass the buck - kind of it not our problem
its your problem go sort it out with BT, or are they right.
Now Virgin want you to use PPPoA with VC-MUX and CHAP authentication method,
but the Voyager does not have an authentication method called CHAP only Auto
or PAP. So is CHAP a common authentication method and BT just do not support
it or are Virgin the odd ones out.
So the long and short of all this is if anyone is connecting to Virgin ADSL
using a BT Voyager 2000 Wireless Modem / Router, please can you post / email
me your settings.
Many TIA
