On my workstation I have always been able to view the printers on our w2k
servers by using Windows Explorer and drilling down in My Network
Places>Entire Network>Microsoft Windows Network>servername... They have
always shown up along with all the shares, tasks and stuff. How can I show
the printers on our w2k3 servers? I see the shares and tasks but no
Printers and Faxes.:-(
Does anyone know of a setting or something that I can turn on on the server
to allow those to be seen?

Thanks
John

Print Spooler service must be running to see that.

To avoid having to restart the server to fix this problem, open a command
prompt and type the following:

net stop spooler

(this will stop the print spooler if it is merely hung). After this
completes, type:

net start spooler

This will restart it.

Look in the Event Log for errors immediately before your spooler restart.
There will definitely be some errors from the printing subsystem, probably
telling you what driver or application caused the problem. Update the
printer drivers if possible.

Thanks Todd,
Been there, done that.:-)
Let me clarify the problem. Try to anyway.:-)
The server is functioning, the 70 someodd people that use with RDP have no
problems, all their printers get created as they should. They print
whatever they want. The only snag is that when I go to check the users
printers from my workstation in My Network Places...., Printers and Faxes
don't show for the w2k3 server as it does with the w2k servers. It only
shows the usual shares and Scheduled Tasks.
Guess I have to live with it.:-(

Sounds like something wrong with the Print$ share.
