VFAT errors after installing a Wireless PCI Adaptor card

I've tried installing two different makes of wireless PCI
Adaptor card so that I can link to a wireless router but
when I install the card I start getting VFAT Device
Initialization Faults and the system halts. I can only
boot up in safe mode after this, probably because it
doesn't use VFAT in this mode.

I've followed instructions found on the internet
regarding Ifhlp.sys (I think) in the config.sys etc and
still I have the problem. However I did have to
reinstall windows at one point due to p2p apps wrecking
the system and I think this is causing the problems I am
having now.

Interestingly, as soon as I remove the card the system
works perfectly again.

Has anyone got any ideas how to fix this. Any help is
welcome!
