very strange weird thing happening with my netgar AP

Ok then,


I have a netgear wg602 and belkin 54g card both support 802.11g

All was fine, i was conecting at the fantastic speed of 54mbps....ok so i
only have 512mb ADSL but humor me :-))

But now for some strange reason all i can connect at is 11mbps, if i try to
get back to 54 it just wont see the wireless network....i drop back to "use
best rate" and it connects immediatley at 11mbps.

I know that i dont need 54, or even 11 with only a 512 adsl, but you all
know what i mean when i say i have to get it working at 54.......

I did nothing to change anything, it was working one night and now just
doesnt...

Any ideas??

It could be interference, 54g uses combined frequency range, and it may
default to 11b to cope.
Try changing the channels.
Of course, it being Netgear, there is always the possibility the 54g has
gone tits up...

11 Mbps is not a speed which can be negotiated in pure G mode (OFDM);
if you're connecting at 11 then you're operating in 802.11b-compatible
mode (CCK). Set both sides to use only G and not B, and see if that
helps.
