very slow rsh

i connect from win2000 to suse.

rsh work but very slow.

rsh <server_name> "ls -al" work, but very slow
rsh <ip_server> "ls -al" works slow too (dns skip)

is that some dns related problem on side of server?

Maybe it's trying to resolve the client hostname in .rhosts
and .egual .

Try getent hosts client_name on the server and check if you get
it resolved instantly or not.

If the slowness is from you typing the command to you get able to enter the
password, yes then it's the DNS, see to that you either disable the DNS
checking on the Linux box or fix your DNS or /etc/hosts.
