For AD services like login to work properly, you need to have the
clients pointing to your local DNS server (because that is where the info is
kept). This is probably your AD server.
So set the clients to use the router as their default gateway, but set
them to use the local DNS server only. Then modify your local DNS server to
forward to a public DNS service (such as your ISP).
