Very slow logging onto domain with XP Pro

I have a home network that I am using as a lab. I reinstalled XP Pro SP2 on
a Gateway Solo 1450 and joined the domain. When log onto the domain, it
takes almost nine minutes to log on. Sits forever at the Appling your
personal settings.

It is only a Dell PIII 450MHz, but it does function for what I need, and at
this point only one station logging onto the domain.

What should I look for to speed this up?

Thanks

Probably a DNS misconfiguration. The workstations (and servers) in the
domain must point only at the internal DNS server IP (e.g., your domain
controller's LAN IP) - no public IPs. If you aren't certain how you're set
up, post back with an unedited ipconfig /all from the DC and this client.

That was it! DNS was configured wrong. Logs on immediately now and my GPOs
work too.

Thanks much for the tip.
