Very slow log on

Server 2003 / SP1. Connected XP Pro / SP2 PCs.
I recently created a new user, to replace a leaver. New user has same login
credentials but on the {old user's} PC it takes about 15 minutes for her to
log on. I deleted her, using AD, and copied the old user. Again, takes
about 15 minutes. Log on as the old user - takes about 30 seconds! Tried
(new) log on on another PC - again very slow.
Driving me nuts! Any ideas, please?
Thanks.

Give the new user a completely new username & password. Do not reuse the
old one.

Copy material from the old profile to the new profile afterwards if you need
to. Do *not* copy the whole folder structure of the old profile,...just do
the specific files that are needed.

Thank you for the suggestion. That is what I did in the first instance. When
that proved slow I copied an existing 'good' user. Both are slow.
