I just saw one in Westchester county, NY. I'm pretty sure it was a Netgear

If you're talking fiber-optic, my recent installation along the CT-NY
line
involved an ActionTec WAP/router- model MI424WR from Verizon.

What's so picky/incompatible with ps3?

Check very recent PC Magazine article rating ISPs for the whole
country
by company overall, and by state, on actual throughput.

IIRC RR didn't really shine.
