Hi,
I just started working for a company in the IT department. Although I am not
a network specialist, I am familiar with basic networking.
The problem is that since we installed out employees with new XP boxes, the
login script only works half the time. Its a VBScript that checks for the OS
version of the user and goes from there depending on what they are using. It
works fine with the 9x and 2k boxes.
After the user enters their username and password to login to the domain,
there is an extended pause and then the script doesnt run, thus not mapping
their shared drives.
When it does work, there is no long pause, it just shoots right into XP and
the drives are mapped.
The current networking people in the department feel that it's some type of
timeout, where XP isnt allowing the script enough time to run properly. The
tech who's job I took had almost found some type of fix through a registry
edit, but he no longer works for the company.
Also, I believe that the server is currently running NT 4 and in the next
couple months, we will be migrating to 2000 server.
If you have any pointers or suggestions, please reply, as many of our
employees are getting irritated and me as the new guy needs to find a
solution. Thanks
Andrew
