1- I got that before. It didn't get resolved, but since I
have an always on broadband connection, it has become a
non-issue for me.
There are three things (at least?) that try to get to the
Internet if a network connection is detected. You may
*try* to disable them
- MBNU: The MBNU runs by default automatically at
startup, and tries to access the Internet periodically --
disable it (typically is not needed).
- Automatic updates -- you can disable them, and check
for updates manually.
- Time synchronization -- I don't know if this one
happens all the time, and if it can be disabled.
2. Interference, settings??? -- hopefully someone else
will have better advice on this one.
3. Turn on Internet connection sharing (ICS) on the XP.
Then, make the 98 obtain it's IP from ICS (set it to use
ICS for Internet access).
