Hi

I have installed the Redhat 9.0 on my Sony laptop VAIO (PCG-GRV680), but I
can not make the my internal modem to work. My internal modem is:
CXT AC-Link Modem for Intel

I used the following link to install the drive for PCG-GRV550, which I think
is compatible with my computer's modem. But, I have not been able to make
this work.

Has any body experience with this, or know where I can find some information
for installing the internal modem this laptop?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Is the CXT a conexant modem?

linuxant.com

NOTE: They charge for a linux driver.

My Sony Vaio PCG-FX215 has a conexant modem. It works under linux. But
the driver is no longer free. And there were several issues with the
older driver, which is no longer distributed. One of which is some
oddball permissions that I needed to mod at every boot. setserial
supposedly allows you to make this change a little more permanent. Which
I was unfamiliar with when I last used it. Another issue was that it
caused your computer to crash after about five hours of modem use.

I route through my desktop with a lucent modem now. It has a much faster
connection speed anyway. And the driver is fairly full featured and
stable. Although wasn't very easy to get working. Everything had to be
just right. Setup was fairly easy for the lucent modem, if you knew all
the magic words.

lspci should give you a little more detail on what you've got.

Thanks for the answer. I tried also the generic version of the driver, but I
could not make it work either!

Hope some new drivers is available some where for Sony PCG-GRV680.
