USR8054 MAC filtering causing problems

Hello,

has anyone enabled MAC filtering "Only allow PCs with MAC listed below to
access device and Internet US" on the USR 8054? When this feature is
enabled, my power LED turns yellow from green and things steadily get worse,
eventually locking up the unit. 256 bit WEP is set on as well. When MAC
filtering is disabled, everything works wonderfully and most of my woes with
the USR 8054 go away.

Ted.

I use MAC filtering on my 8054 with no problems.

What else do you have enabled? I've enabled WEP 256. I concerned about
processor usage on the USR8054 and their message that WEP 256 takes much
more processor power. When MAC filtering is enabled, things slowly degrade
until the router locks up a couple of hours later. During this degradation
period, communication with the router ceases, FTP through the router is no
longer possible, the log generates lots of AP mode ready messages, status
light is off. With MAC filtering disabled, everything works. Anyone else use
WEP 256 and MAC filtering?

Ted.

I currently have WEP set at 128 and I also do not broadcast. I do however
live in an area where I don't need to be concerned about hackers/hitch
hikers. And I use a monitoring tool just in case. Try using 128 on the WEP
and see if that helps. After all, the MAC filtering is to only allow certain
MAC addresses.

Well,

so far so good. I've changed WEP to 128 and enabled MAC filtering. So far no
yellow lights have appeared on the power LED and the status LED is green. It
would appear the USR 8054 doesn't quite have the processor power to allow
WEP 256 and MAC filtering enabled. I'll post if things go funny again.

Ted.
