USR8022 - connection falling out

Hi, I know this was a question raised by someone in Sept but no one
replied to that post.

This question is concerning the connection falling out on my usr8022
dsl router. The problem occurs intermitently. The pwr light remains
on but all other led indicators are off. The only way to re-establish
connection is to unplug and replug the power source at the back (as
there is no switch on the device).

Ideally, and as a regular user would reasonably expect, I'd like to
have an always-on connection. I've tried setting the "Renew IP
Forever" check on the router's WAN configuration (and rebooting the
device). The indicator lights flash as if a connection is there but a
ping test can't resolve.

Any ideas would be appreciated.
M.

I may be that person. Then again, who knows...

That happens occasionally with my USR 8054. It seems to happen more
frequently when there is activity -- say, if I have an SSH session open with
pine in it and I am composing a message in pine, it'll blink off, my end
will show no radio transmission (I think wired transmission stops too), and
then usually it comes back on.

A few times it goes into a loop, where all network lights (WAN + 4 LAN)
blink on and off every 15s (say 14s on, and 1s off). At that point, I have
to remove power from the router to make it recover.

But if it doesn't do that, and doesn't pick up a few seconds later without
interrupting SSH and SMB (something kills ICQ and AIM... it may be that),
XP's 802.11b code has wedged, and I have to restart the laptop.

I have the latest firmware (1.17).

Hm, try updating the firmware, Are there any protocol options you can set?
