I have a USR8054 and a few questions (also sent them to their helpdesk,
after 10 days still noreply).

1. The reset button (hole in back) does not seem to work. if I follow
the procedure then all that happens is that the statuslight will be
blinking yellow indefinitely.

2. The lanlight are alwyas yellow although I have a 100Mb
network/cards. Also file transfer runs at about 80Mbps. I thought the
light should be green.

For the rest the unit works fine. Just like an answer on these
questions.

It took them about a month (!) the first time I mailed them. Second time
(same issue) was much faster, only a few days.

If you go to its web page at this point, I thimkk you'll find it's expecting
a firmware upload.

I believe the documentation is wrong on this point, and the PWR/STATUS LEDs
are orange, and the WAN/LAN LEDs are yellow. Probably orange LEDs were
$0.01 cheaper than green ones.

Mine wipes the NAT cache when lots of small packets go to/from a wireless
machine, but otherwise works OK.

I have the latest (1.17) update.

I am in deep trouble thinking about what I will do. Either go back to
the shop tomorrow and try to get a refund or keep the unit. It works
really good on the subject of signal strengt and quality but it is a
disaster on almost ebery point relating to the menu.

I would like to use MAC control, however I have to enter every PC that
is connected thru a wire. There is still no WPA and the WEP clearly
disagrees with my Apple Airport card.

If you harass USR, they'll send you 1.21, which still doesn't fix syslog.

That is why I didn't use MAC-based access control -- occasionally other
people want to hook into my LAN, and I don't want to have to add their cards
manually to a list of allowed MACs.

Can't help you with that, other than to suggest a driver update for Airport,
and a firmware update (when you get it) for the 8054.

I have combination wired USR8000 + wireless USR8054 + USR5416 (wireles
PCI).
It wasn't obvious to configure it but finally it working fine and I
don't think D-link or Linksys will be even better.
If you have some questions ask me. I'll help if I can.
