how do I restart my usr 8054 wireless router? I have tried but all I
get is the firmware update page. I've connected my pc via cable
directly to the router. All that appears to happen now is that the
router keeps restarting itself (all lights blink on and then off). I
cant get to the router's configuration page... indeed, it's DCHP
server doesnt seem to be working... the only way to get anything 'out'
of it is to manually assign an ip addess and press the reset button
just as it's powered on - which takes me to the firmware upgrade page
. I've tried tech support but they're completley useless....

Return it to the vendor, sue them for 'crap' products, get 100k$ and live
happy for the next few years.

Yeah - it is a heap of crap.... the documentation is $hite and
support is useless - I phoned them three times today and even they
didnt have a clue onto resetting the damned thing.... silly me being
taken in by the brand name.

RESET Button: Press in and hold the RESET button for between five and ten
seconds. This will reset the Wireless Turbo Access Point & Router to the
factory default settings.

Done that guitarman.... also done 'hold in for five seconds, power
off, and hold in for another five seconds' and various other
combinations on the theme. I even tried doing the above without the
antennas connected. Nothing, no ping or anything. The thing just sits
there and 'restarts' every 30 seconds. The only thing i CAN do is get
to the firmware update page (hold in reset button when just after
power up) - and that's only after I manually set the IP address on my
computer.... arrrrghhh.

I would take it back and return it for another one.
I have the same model and have no problems with it.

Yeah - I think its left this world and going to a better place...
phoned up the place where I bought it and they're collecting it
tomorrow.

Interestingly, USR sent me some firmware today - it seems to be an
update of the version they have on thier webpage, i.e. version 1.21
instead of version 1.17. For anyone who's interested (or brave enough
to try it :P) I've put up the zipfile they sent me on my webpage:
http://dbhatt.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk - just click on the second picture
(the red one). This didnt work for me (kept doing the same old restart
thing) but may interest the people.

Glad you were able to return it with no problems.
Good luck to you.
