I have a Linksys wireless 4 point router 802.11b with a Linksys wireless
usb network adapter and a Linksys wireless network pc card all set up to
run under windows os. I have been trying out various live Linux cds
none of which will work using the wireless network adapter. My
questions are: Can replace the Linksys wireless adapter with another
brand using the current setup and if so which would be a good choice to
run under Linux? I hope to install a linux distro to my hard drive
eventually, many thanks.

No, so far I've been using only live cds. Will ndiswrapper work with
live cds? Thanks for your reply.

I've got Netgear MR814v2 802.11b (it's also 802.11b, *not* 802.11g)
w/less router. For Windows 2000/RedHat Linux dual-bootable box
bought Netgear MA311 PCI Card. Under W2K installed driver, downloaded
from netgear.com web site. After that I've installed Linux on another
hard drive. During installation the MA311 card was recognized,
and proper entry was added into /etc/modules.conf, but I was not
prompted to configure it. Maybe because this computer has 100Base-T
NIC as well, and I was prompted to configure it. To get it working
I've edited just one file - /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1.
It was RedHat Enterprise Linux 3 Update 3, but I'm sure that it
will work under Fedora as well.

Depends on what you have on your live CD. You would need
a) ndiswrapper and
b) the Windows driver for the wireless card
on the CD. If you have those, then yes, it could. If not, then no.
