Check your specs. European GSM opeates on the 900/1800 bands. 900 is used by
the original GSM networks and 1800 by the newer networks (with a litlle bit
of crossover). Both give very good national coverage in most countries.
If your Treo is unlocked you will find it much, much cheaper to buy a local
SIM and use that - GPRS is widespread though PAYG SIMs often only provide
WAP service - although some do 'full internet'.
To discover whether it is locked - bung in any SIM from another network -
will it log on to the network?
Re plugging PSU in - you will need a physical adapter to plug it into the
local country socket (purchasable at any airport). The PSU should be marked
something like 110-230 VAV 50/60Hz which means it is 'universal' and OK.
An alternate is to use 'battery chargers' from AA batteries. Drop in at your
local eBay for details.
For details on local SIMs search groups.google.com for local country mobile
telephone newsgroups - uk.telecom.mobile covers the UK and as us Brits do
frequently invade Europe in search of sun while calling home - you may find
some help there - and in English.
