Using router with Virgin Broadband?

I've (tried to) ask Virgin.net support the following question no less
than three times over the past few days, via their support webform,
via email, and again via their feedback form, with no reply.

This seems a strange way to treat a would-be paying customer and I hope
is not an omen of things to come.. [1]

[1] Unfortunately, needing a month-by-month ADSL contract with no
activation fee, I don't think I have much choice but to go with Virgin.

Do any of you here, being far more clueful, know the answer to the
following question:

Is it possible to connect to Virgin Broadband using a router?
We have a router/ADSL modem in our flat left behind by a previous
tenant, although your website only mentions using a standalone ADSL
modem.

Thanks for any advice,

David.

Yes, its possible to use a router to connect directly to any ADSL service in
the UK (apart from AOL) as long as it includes a built in an ADSL modem.

Regards

David

I'm with Virgin using a Solwise SAR715.
Virgin are having a lot of trouble fighting Viruses (they say).
This may partially explain, but not justify, the poor response.

Yes you can use a router fine, I am currently using a DG814 quite happily.
The only problem is that the download speed quite often is very slow and you
need to reboot the router at least once a week for some reason, I know this
is not a fault of the router as it was happily working in bt for 6 months
without a single reboot.
