Hi all,
I am running an application that is configured to use the local PC network
name in its environment settings e.g. \\mycomputer\myfolder... where
mycomputer is the name of my local PC on the network. The application runs
fine when I am connected to the network but fails when I am not although I
don't really use any network data. I need to keep this setup for other users
though. This is due to the fact that I cannot access any folder on my local
PC via my network place when I am not connected.
I thought that this was a windows limitation (I am running windows XP
Professional edition SP2). However, recently, I have come accross a PC that
could access the network place folder although the network cable is
disconnected. How could I achieve the same functionality on my PC?
Thanks

If you enable file sharing, you should be able to access the network place. or try this net use \\mycomputer\myfolder

File sharing is always enabled (otherwise the application would not run for other users). I tried the net use command but it fails.
For precision sake, I can actually access the network place but when I eventually click on any shared folder I get the message that "the network resource is not accessible...". Also, please note that, when I am on the network, my PC is a member of a domain.
Thanks for your feedback
