Using Netgear router as a switch

I have a Netgear MR814 router I'm not using now (upgraded to a WGR614)
and I want to use the 814 as a connection for my XBox. Can a 814
Router/Switch be configured as a switch between my XBox and the WGR614
router? I've tried some things found on the Netgear support site, but
nothing has worked.

I've reset the 814 for non-dhcp, and played with the ip, subnet, dns
info, but it keeps giving an error.

Any thoughts appreciated.
