in a couple of weeks, my father will take a a piece of sacred wire and
bless me with the happiness of Internet on my own box. Yeah, sounds
pretty pathetic, but I'm only sixteen years old. My linux system
(fedora core 3, on a 2 gig disk, next to my windows me 6 gig disk)
probably won't work with it. But if it does, i want to have access to
my own box over the internet. How should i do this? Because i am quite
new to the combination linux/internet.

First and most important step, read up on and understand security and
firewalls.

If someone ever tells you to go with Samba over Internet, don't do it.
In fact your ISP might have already blocked netbios ports (ports 137 &
139). At least here in Sydney, Australia, Telstra's blocked them.

So set up Samba first and then look up Virtual Private Network (VPN),
you will learn a lot more about networking, pptp, security, firewall etc.
