using indoor AP outside

I've got a wireless router in my upstairs closet and it covers my
house fairly well, but the coverage outside is terrible. I looked
into getting an outside Access Point, but they are way too expensive.
I was considering mouting an internal access point on the side of the
house incased in some kind of covering. What would be the best
material to cover the AP without reducing the range too much? I was
thinking of plexiglass, but I'm not sure what would be the best
solution for the least amount of money.

Thanks,
Nate Baxley

Consider as an alternative, a Linksys AP (several models support external
antennas nicely) and an external antenna. Run the feed through a window or
something. (just a thought).

IF you are in the UK, Maplin electronic stores do good range of low-priced
weatherproof boxes

Hi.
I got mine in a plastic tupperware ( food ) box with the antenna
sticking out through a hole in the bottom.
Cheers

Go to any electrical wholesaler or lumber yard even and buy a weather
proof
PVC box and cover. Cost about $6.00, can't get any cheaper than that.
Just make sure you don't seal up your equipment to tightly or you run
a real risk of overheating the AP.
