A friend is about to move to broadband (using Freedom2surf) and wants a
cheap usb modem. I've obtained a BT voyager 100 and naively assumed I could
just bypass all the BT startup software, install the drivers, log onto it
(192.168.0.1) and set it up for her. Rather like I've done with other modems
(e.g., our DSL 300, and other netgear router/modems).

But when I try to do so get an odd looking dialogue box asking for the BT
username and password.

Can I just enter her f2s username and password into the dialogue box on
192.168.0.1 and trust that it will work with f2s?

Do I need to find out what the original user's username and password were,
in order to login? (Or try to find a firmware update to re-flash it to the
defaults - whatever they are!)

The long and short of it is - does anyone know if it's possible to use this
modem with other ISPs??

Have a horrible feeling that paying £8 for this second hand modem was a big
mistake!

you're on the wrong page, mate. USB modems don't provide web
interfaces you have to put the details into a windows DUN (dial up
networking) connection.

Yes it'll work on other ISPs.
