I am migrating user and machine accounts from an old NT-4 PDC to a single
Windows 2003 file and print server. Whom ever set the previous configuration
up,only used it for sharing a few cdrom drives and mapped folders. No
roaming nor mandatory profiles were created on the NT-4. The workstations
are a mix of windows98, windowsme, windows2000, and xp pro. The question is
how would I attempt to setup the user profiles with their current "My Docs"
they allready have on their machines to be redirected to their profile on
the new windows 2003 server? Any suggestions welcomed. I am praying it's an
easy task and not a challenge. Humbly thank you for your response.

Joe

Roaming profiles are not compatible between OS versions - and NT-based OSes
use a different path/method than Win9x does. And you can't use group policy
folder redirection on Win9x/ME. You'd have to manually point My Documents at
the home directory for each user's profile on their computer, IIRC.

If I were you I'd make it a priority to get all clients on the same OS
version, XP Pro, if you want to use roaming profiles - or even if you don't.
