I have two computers network, both have internet access
but that is it. I set up a user acount on windows me that
was the computer name of my xp computer and now i need to
know how to set up permissions on a account already on
windows me? The reason i know it is the permissions is
because when i try to access the win me( computer name
M0m_dad) pc from my xp pc i get the following "\\Mom-dad
is not accessible. you might not have permissions to use
this network resource. contact the administrator of this
server to find out if you have access permissions. the net
work path was not found."

The error message is misleading, because Windows Me doesn't have
permissions for access to network shares.

These tips should help you get everything working:

1. Permanently disable XP's built-in Internet Connection Firewall on
local area network connections -- it's for use only on a direct modem
connection to the Internet. Disable and un-install all other
firewalls while troubleshooting. Details here:

Windows XP Internet Connection Firewall

2. Use only one protocol for File and Printer Sharing. If the network
needs more than one protocol, unbind File and Printer Sharing from all
but one of them. Details here:

Windows XP Network Protocols
http://www.practicallynetworked.com/..._protocols.htm

3. Make sure that NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled on both computers.
Details here:

Enable NetBIOS Over TCP/IP (NetBT)
