I have a small network (workgroup) and am using an XP Pro
machine as a file server. My Win98 seems to need a file
on the XP machine to help me limit access to files. I
need to know what kind of file it is looking for and where
it is located so I can create one and add the user name I
want to limit access for.

I'm sorry, but what you want isn't possible with the computers that
you have. User lists and user-level access control for Win98 require
a Windows NT/2000/2003 or NetWare server. XP Pro isn't a server
operating system. You'll have to use share-level access control on
Win98.
