Use Notebook on Domain and on Peer-To-Peer Networks

I have a notebook computer with Win XP Pro, SP2. I currently use it on my
home peer-to-peer network that consists of 2 computers. Specifically, the
notebook and my desktop computers. The notebook operates correctly in this
environment.

I also want to to use it at work on our small client/server network. The
Domain Controller has Windows 2003 Server, SP2. Another computer is used as a
file and application server, and it has Windows 2003 Server, SP1. Two other
computers have Win XP Pro, SP2. The final two computers have Win 2000 Pro.

Both the Domain and the Peer-To-Peer networks have the same
network/workgroup name. My username and the password is the same on both
networks, and the username is an Administrator on both the Domain and Peer
networks. Also, the notebook computer has the same Computer Name on both the
Domain and Peer networks.

We do not have a real IT person, nor do we have access to one, and since my
knowledge and skills are rather limited, I really need a solution that is
simple rather than elegant. BTW, the network does not access the internet.

I believe that I need more than simple access to the resources/shares of
each network. My primary purpose for this exercise is to allow me to run my
file synchronization program, FastLynx, within each respective LAN.
Currently, I utilize a USB 2.0 connection when I synchronize with the
computers on the Domain netowork. But that is like watching grass grow
relative to the gigabit speeds that are available when I synchronize with the
other computer on the Peer network. I sync a lot of files, many of which are
quite large, and having gigabit speed would be great.

Please Note: I am not directly synchronizing computers between the Domain
and Peer networks. I am synchronizing between two computers within a network.
For example, the notebook, when joined to the Domain network, will sync with
a computer named Server2. When the notebook is joined to the Peer network, it
will sync with a computer named AMD.

The FastLynx program is first opened on both of the computers in the LAN
which will be sync'ed. Then with the click of a button, it directly connects
both computers over a TCP/IP connection on the LAN.

Thanks for any help that you can give me with this problem.

What's the problem? Can you synchronize between two computers?

Hi

My question is: how do I get the notebook computer to join the peer-to-peer
network at home, and then join the client/server network at work?

Basically you need a different network config in each situation.

Have a look at Netswitcher
