Hi. I am a new user with wireless devices with USB connections. How come
I cannot switch to another USB device and get a network connection? I
always had it in a specific port and that works. Windows 2000 SP4 (all
updates) does detect the new hardware device in the new USB ports.

Am I missing something? Thank you in advance.

Is there a BIOS update for your motherboard?

Not sure. I will have to check Dell (need to get the model #). It
isn't my machine so... Do you really think it is outdated BIOS? I thought
USB was supposed to be easy to manage. Just unplug, plug into another port
without questions. Hmmph.

There have been "patches" to the original USB spec. both in the OS and the
BIOS. It's a pain but things change and hopefully a small BIOS or OS patch
will do the trick.

When you said OS patch, which patch? I believe I have all the patches for
Windows 2000 SP4.

With SP4, I'm sure you have all the patches.
